Trust Set To Launch Sporting Memories

Blackpool FC Community Trust are delighted to announce news of a new weekly Sporting Memories group that will take place at the stadium.

This group, which is aimed at older sports fans, will predominantly cover football and Blackpool FC, although we will incorporate other sports. This fun group will then provide people with an opportunity to meet up with like-minded people to share stories, memories, memorabilia, and opinions.

Our first session will take place at the stadium, this week on Thursday 8th March, and we felt it would be fitting that the topic of discussion at this group should be the late great Jimmy Armfield. The group will meet at the Club Shop (opposite Travelodge), Bloomfield Road. Refreshments will be made available and the cost to attend is £1.

Blackpool FC Community Trust Chief Executive Ashley Hackett said, “Blackpool is a town rich in sporting history and with this in mind, we are very excited to tap into that heritage through the memories of the many sporting fans that live in The area. We believe this is something that the community will thoroughly enjoy and look forward to seeing the group develop and give a great service to all that get involved.”

Tony Jameson-Allan, Co-Founder of Sporting Memories added, “We are delighted to be partnering with Blackpool FC Community Trust on the new Sporting Memories programme in the town. Funding from the Royal British Legion has provided the opportunity to establish weekly groups, with a unique opportunity to use the history and heritage of the club and of sport across Blackpool to engage veterans and older people living in the area.”
