Coming up in August

The school holidays have finally arrived but that doesn’t mean we are slowing down. We still have so much going on this month that you can take part in! Check it out…

Summer Holiday Camps (July 24th – August 25th)

Our school holiday Sports Camps are the perfect opportunity for children to have fun, make new friends and improve their sports skills. The Community Trust will deliver various exciting activities, including football, dodgeball, cricket, dance and many more. These camps are designed to provide a fun and challenging environment for children of all skill levels, ages 5 to 14.

  • Sports Camp @ Unity Academy (8 am – 5 pm)
  • Sports Camp @ Armfield Academy (9 am – 5 pm)

If sports camps are not for you, we also have Football Camps at Aspire Sports Hub (formally PlayFootball) that focus on all aspects of the game. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to improve your skills and take your game to the next level.

  • Football Camp – ages 5-14 years old (8 am – 5 pm)
  • Girls Football camp – ages 7-14 years old (8 am – 5 pm)

We also have our Holiday Activities and Food Camps (HAF) for children who receive free school meals which take place at local primary schools.

Finally, we have our Stars Disability Camp for children living with a disability in the local area. This takes place from 11 am – 3 pm in the Education and Community Centre @ Blackpool FC excluding bank holidays. To book, please email info@bfcct.co.uk.

Family Hubs

Our Family Hubs are taking a break for the entirety of August and will be returning on the 5th of September.

Our Family Hubs take place in the North Stand Community Hub at Blackpool FC stadium every Tuesday and Thursday from 4 pm – 6 pm. We have activities, crafts and board games for the children to enjoy, we open up our state-of-the-art games room for the older children and we also have an area to complete homework and have a chat with family members and friends. The Family Hubs are free and open to anyone as long as adults accompany children.

We offer FREE sandwiches and crisps to every family that attends.

DWP Event

Our Community Navigation and Living Support Manager is attending an event at St Anne’s DWP, taking our Community Programmes information and discussing Volunteering Opportunities at the Trust as we look to enhance our team.

Get Vocal Launch (11th August)

Due to the success of our weekly men’s talking group ‘Get Vocal’ we are delighted to announce the brand new Get Vocal Podcast! The first episode will be released on the 11th of August and will have special guest Nathan Parker talking about mental health, opening up and his personal journey with words.

A massive thank you to Callum Taylor and Jack Sprigg who will be hosting our monthly podcast!

Make sure you stay tuned and listen to the conversations on release.

PL Kicks Internal Tournament (30th August)

At the end of the month, we are hosting an internal Premier League Kicks Football Tournament at Aspire Sports Hub. Each of our Premier League Kicks venues will be putting a team together to take on all the other venues around Blackpool to see who can come out on top and win it all!

Walking Football

Every Monday, Thursday and Friday, we deliver our Walking Football sessions at Aspire Sports Hub (Monday and Thursday) and Lytham YMCA (Friday). Walking Football was designed to help those 50+ rekindle their love for football, keeping them active and increasing physical activity in the process.

Take a look at what some participants had to say about the session in this short video here – Walking Football Video

New Female Walking Football Session

To go alongside our female walking football session on a Monday evening, we are now running a session on a Wednesday evening at Aspire Sports Hub from 7pm – 8pm as well. This session is £1 per person and helps people get out of the house and do some exercise. Walking football is slow-paced and non-contact, making it perfect for people who have never played before or people who just want to have some fun. So whether you’re a newbie or play football every day, come on down and have some fun!
