Blackpool FC Community Trust’s Junior Amputee football team finished second in their first competitive season in the Lancashire FA Ability Counts League.
Blackpool FC Community Trust developed the first Amputee Junior team throughout the UK & Europe back in June 2016 in partnership with EAFA.
The Community Trust has a wide range of disability teams who compete regularly in the Lancashire FA Ability Counts League but this year saw the first impairment specific team (Amputees) represented within the U16’s category.
The youngsters competed in over 25 games throughout the season and finished in second place after missing out on top spot on the final day of the season.
Blackpool FC Community Trust, Inclusion Officer, Owen Coyle said: “It’s a fantastic achievement and inspirational seeing these children compete at this level. The Trust supports a variety of different disability projects, with the junior amputee programme leading the way in the new impairment specific approach.”
Owen added, “Well done to all the players, staff & parents for their tremendous efforts this season. We look forward to your further development next season.”
