Blackpool FC Sports College welcomes new students with a fun-filled induction week!

Courses at Blackpool FC Sports College give students the chance to develop academically and socially, giving them the knowledge, skills, and experience to succeed in their chosen careers.

Studying at Blackpool FC Sports College gives students the rare opportunity to learn within a functioning sports organisation, based within a professional football stadium. This means our students can speak to, and learn from, current professionals working in the sport, fitness and leisure sector.

We care about the future of our students and pride ourselves on providing a safe and stimulating environment to learn. We have strong partnerships with local employers and organisations, and this is embedded into college life to ensure all students gain the experience required to progress onto the next level course or into employment.

This week saw Blackpool FC Sports College welcome over 60 college students to Bloomfield Road.

Their first week gave the students the opportunity to experience what studying at the stadium will be like, during this time they had the chance to get to know their new tutors and new students, whom they will be working with and alongside, through a variety of activities.

On the first day, the students participated in ice breaker activities including Pictionary and an obstacle course, they spoke to their tutors about what they would like to achieve whilst studying and told us what would make their college experience the best it could be.

Activities continued throughout the week and included the opportunity to play in a competitive football fixture at Fleetwood Town Community Sports College, taking part in multiple fixtures against their teams.

Towards the end of the week, students were taken to TeeTime Golf Centre in Thornton Cleveleys to enjoy some time at the driving range and have a game of foot golf. Many of the students have made new friends and feel more comfortable with their peers and college tutors.

Michael Brown, Enrichment and Recruitment Manager at Blackpool FC Sports College said,

“The first week of college had been fantastic. All the students have taken part in a variety of activities. Our Blackpool FC sports college football academy students got the opportunity to play fixtures against Fleetwood town and Preston north end. Wearing the shirt for the first time was a great experience for many players. It’s been a great start to the academic year!”
