Community Christmas Meal 2022

As part of Blackpool FC Community Trust’s (BFCCT) ongoing efforts to support our community, on Wednesday 21st December BFCCT held a Christmas Meal for members of our community who may be lonely during the festive period.

It was a pleasure to invite over 80 people to our free Community Christmas Meal.  On the day we welcomed people from our NAAFI break, Sporting Memories and Pool Together Warm Hub who all enjoyed a delicious Christmas meal and took part in a quiz too. Members of Warren Manor, and attendees from @theGrange and Blackpool Volunteers Centre also came and joined the festive fun which took place in the Moretti Lounge at Blackpool FC Stadium.

Matt Hilton, Deputy CEO at Blackpool FC Community Trust said,

“Most people love Christmas, but not everyone gets to enjoy the day as much as they would like. In fact, for some people it can be a lonely time. With today’s event, we wanted to make sure that older people and those less fortunate have a place to go to celebrate the festive season”.

“I would like to thank all Community Trust staff for organising such a heart-warming event, and I’d like to give a special thanks to Matt Varley and Tanya Southern Executive Chefs from Campbell and Rowley”.

A huge thank you to Campbell and Rowley Catering, who kindly organised the food and service, and to Blackpool FC for providing the venue free of charge, because of their support we have been able to make this season a bit more cheerful for those who attend our sessions.

Ellie, Care Support Worker from Warren Manor said,

“We are here from Warren Manor, we work with adults that have learning disabilities. It’s been a pleasure to be invited by Blackpool FC Community Trust for a Christmas dinner and get everybody from all over the community together and socialise with different people.”

A gentleman who attended had this to say,

“After my wife died last year, I have been quite lonely. It means so much to be able to attend events like this.  It gets me out.  I also attend weekly sessions with you guys (Blackpool FC Community Trust)”.

We look forward to welcoming our community back to our sessions which will recommence from Tuesday 3rd January.  May we take this opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
