Our First Week at Aspire Sports Hub

A few weeks ago, we announced our exclusive community usage agreement with Fylde Coast Academy Trust and Blackpool Aspire Academy, for evening and weekend use of the school’s sports facilities.

Both the indoor and outdoor sports facilities, previously known as PlayFootball, will now be managed by the Community Trust under the title ‘Aspire Sports Hub’, with an initial plan for community activity to take place from February 2023.

That activity has now begun as we started putting on our first sessions at Aspire Sports Hub this week.

In total, we have seen around 215 participants attend our sessions at our new facility this week.

Walking Football

Our Walking Football sessions occur every Monday and Thursday evening between 5 pm – 6 pm and have relocated to the Aspire Sports Hub. Across both sessions this week, we have seen around 60 people take part in our Walking Football games.

We have delivered Walking Football sessions in Blackpool for over five years with great success. The main aim is to help people over the age of 50 rekindle their love for football whilst also keeping them fit and active in the process.

Dave Maclean, Community Engagement Manager said:

“It was great to see so many participants return to the home of Walking Football in Blackpool this week, as the sessions recommenced at our new Aspire Sports Hub.”

PL Kicks

This week saw our #PLKicks sessions return to the Aspire Sports Hub after 12 months. On Tuesday we saw around 40 young people around Blackpool come down and play football with their friends which was amazing to see. We saw similar numbers return on Thursday night, again with around 40 participants attending our football session inside our new facility.

We deliver Premier League Kicks sessions every weekday around Blackpool. To check out our sessions click here – Premier League Kicks

FA Girls Emerging Talent Centre

The Emerging Talent Centre is now in its third week of delivery this week. In total, we have 75 girls attending each week, taking part in high-quality football sessions, goalkeeper-specific sessions, and strength and conditioning sessions.

In the near future, we are looking at moving even more of our sessions to the Aspire Sports Hub, keeping the weekly attendance growing even more.
