Over 25's Traineeship

Blackpool FC Community Trust have been selected, as one of only eight clubs in the country, to pilot a 25 plus programme in conjunction with the EFL and Job Centre Plus.  The Over 25’s Traineeship is currently an eight week pilot programme.  This first pilot has been solely aimed at females due to the high number of unemployed females in the 25 plus age bracket.  Going forward the opportunity will be opened up to all 25 year olds and over, who are long term unemployed.  The places are taken by people who have been referred by the Job Centre.

Over their time on the course the aim is to build their confidence in a work environment and offer support to build key skills including ICT Digital Skills and customer service qualifications.

They take part in work experience one day a week at a variety of local businesses in Blackpool.

Natalie McDonagh is 26 and moved to Blackpool five years ago after coming on holiday and never going home to Scotland, she said:

“My confidence was really low, I didn’t feel myself but since coming to the group I feel more myself.  I can actually go out in places and do things that I couldn’t do before”.

The participants currently on the course are now more than half way through the programme and it is great that a number of them have already been offered job interviews.

This Over 25’s Traineeship programme is in additional to the Traineeship Blackpool FC Community Trust currently run for 16 – 24 year olds.
