Pan Ability team win their first College Festival

Blackpool and the Fylde College have joined together with Blackpool FC Community Trusts Inclusion department to take on the responsibility of developing their Pan ability Football programme for the 2013/14 season.

This is a brand new programme for the College, who have never entered a team in the league before but were very keen to provide this service to their students.

On the 26th of February, Blackpool and the Fylde College pan ability team took part in the British Colleges North West Pan Ability Counts League.

At the start of the day Blackpool and the Fylde College sat third in the league, after missing the first round of games and losing to Salford College and drawing with Loreto College in round two.

Blackpool and the Fylde College played Warrington in the opening game. The team started the day with a convincing 4-0 win to settle the nerves. This would be the standard set by Blackpool throughout the day, winning all their games, scoring ten goals and conceding none. A highlight of the day was beating Salford College 3-0, who had beaten Blackpool in a previous round.

Renuka Morris Curriculum Manager 14-19 Programmes School of Access said; the distance travelled by this young group of men is a phenomenal distance through hardships. Where they stand now with this win is at the cusp of open-door to progression within college and employment. They have acquired skills, discipline and motivation, which will see them as ‘job ready’ for the future. Many Congratulations to the Blackpool & the Fylde College Team for their win and to all other colleges participating.
